Feathered musings

Yesterday a pair of chickadees were on one of my feeders. I don’t think I’ve ever seen chickadees in Florida, and definitely not at this house. They made me smile.

Today the titmice and cardinals are devouring seed while singing very loudly.

The red-tailed hawk is out and about, her distinctive cry echoing through the neighborhood.

The big tree I can see from my window is full of  robins. They settle there, then scatter, then come back.

There is no better morning music than that of birdsong.

I’m not sure how I feel about this…Sci Fi is apparently putting together a spinoff prequel to BSG to be called CAPRICA. I swear that when I read that the show would revolve around “the Graystones and the Adamas,” it sounded too much like the Hatfields & McCoys for my taste. Or perhaps it’s supposed…

Give this great article a read about a recent shrub appearance in California for Earth Day. Already sounds sickening, doesn’t it? The author, Mark Morford, hits many nails on the head (and the more I read this guy’s stuff, the more I like him).

I’ve got a few new garden pics to post. I’m very excited that my first echinachea plant, aka coneflower, is going gangbusters this year. It’s fun to see it keep getting taller and to see the beautiful head forming, which will eventually sprout the tell-tale purple petals. I doubt that I’ll ever harvest this plant;…

Wow, who’da thunk that playing around in the NaNo forums would inspire me? While whining about my main character not doing anything interesting, I thought up of a way to force the bitch to do something fun. Bwahaha, she now must prove her title as Warrior of the Red Dragon! She must liter the valley…
