Bits & bobs

NaNoWriMo is coming up again (National Novel Writing Month, which is November, and the org is about actually writing an entire short novel in a month)…and again, I’m going to try to actually do it, lol. This is my third year trying, this is their seventh year doing it, and 3 and 7 are both “lucky” numbers for me. So maybe this will be the year I finally finish it…

Watched The Girls Next Door last night, and it was the episode about the Midsummer Night’s party and the makeover of Bridget’s sister. Cute makeover, but the really cool things were the costumes Holly and Bridget wore! Holly’s costume was this funky silver thing–it was gorgeous. Bridget’s was this Medusa-like creation, with silver snakes in her hair, a cool silver snake necklace, really cool shoes, etc. I really need to start trying to recreate funky costumes like that…I *say* I want to do fun costuming, but I’ve yet to really dive into actually *making* any. Must try to find pictures from that episode and see if I can maybe recreate one. (And no, I’m not going to try to recreate Kendra’s costume, LOL!!!)

I have also discovered the joy of podcasts. Yeah, yeah, a little late…well, actually I’ve downloaded some many times but never had time to listen to them. But I discovered yesterday that listening to Ron Moore do a commentary on a Battlestar Galactica episode is a WONDERFUL way to pass the hour & a half that it takes me to get to work in the morning. And it keeps my mind off the fact that I’m going to work at 6 am. Aaaah…thanks, Ron (and I’ve got several of his podcasts to catch up on–hurrah!)! When I’m done with those, NaNoWriMo now has podcasts…wheee! ;-)

So I want to resurrect some of my old blog layouts, ones I’ve made & loved (“whitewashed,” “apres ski,” “genrechick,” etc). But. They are not coded in current WordPress style, and I find that the idea of taking the hours it will take to convert them makes me sigh with resignation and reach for a…

  • Go west, young-enough woman

In a few months (June, to be exact) I’m going to finally do something I’ve wanted to do for a long time: move west. I’m so very, very excited about it! While my childhood dream was to move to Los Angeles, my few visits there have tamped down my eagerness to live there. I still…

  • A new love

I am jet-crazy. I admit this. But I now have a new love…the V-22 Osprey! This thing looks *so* cool and hell, it’s a real-life transformer (well, sort of, haha–it can’t become a car): It’s a helicopter, and the rotors move forward to become a plane, and the two wings/nacelles can folds up on top…

  • Pre-Thanksgiving thankful thoughts

November has been an interesting month. I’ve made some insights & discoveries about myself, things I didn’t expect and in ways I didn’t expect. I started three different challenges on November 1: Art Every Day Month, NaNoWriMo, and a 100 Day Challenge within my spiritual group. I began each with typical zeal. While I’m staying…
