Flax bread, more coneflower, and a funny
Today I finally made the flaxbread recipe I found here, and it turned out delicious! It’s an incredibly simple recipe. I didn’t even use almond meal, just simply the flaxmeal. I can wait to experiment with other flavors, as Kiva suggests.
Here’s the “loaf” after it came out of the pan:

I didn’t have a pie pan, as she used, so I used a loaf pan, which actually turned out well. Here’s the thickness of it:

I’m going to cut a few pieces and toast them tonight with dinner. Sort of biscotti-shaped, lol! Between the flaxmeal and the olive oil, it has a nice nutty-tinged flavor, and it definitely is “bread-like” enough for me. I’ll experiment with it with sandwiches too.
And here is a Coneflower Update, because I can’t go long without mentioning this plant, it seems:

The newer buds are unfurling their petals. :-)
And for a chuckle…my younger furkid Bast has a little game going with one of the local lizards. This big lizard lives outside one of my bedroom windows, and likes to egg Bast into trying to get him, which he knows she cannot do. This lizard will—I kid you not—crawl on and bang against the screen, as if he’s trying to get in; I think he’s just making noise to get her attention. She’ll hear the noise, make a beeline for the window, and the lizard will then hop back a few inches, stand proudly, and stare her down. He’ll do a few lizard-pushups, push out his red throat. She’ll sit there, still as a statue except for her tail that randomly twitches. Eventually she’ll lunge at the lizard, he’ll hop back a bit more, she’ll get bored and leave. He’ll wait a bit, then commence rattling the screen again. She’ll run back and the entire hilarious scene is re-enacted.
Here’s a shot of one of the recent staring contests…
