Oh yeah, now I’m REALLY joyful.

Was in a car accident today. Happy holidays, huh? Thankfully no one was hurt, but my car is undrivable and is now sitting at a repair shop (that of course isn’t open until Tuesday). The guy who caused the accident never stopped, of course—fucking jackass. He cut into a middle lane on the highway, forcing another car into the left lane to avoid being hit, and I happened to be right there in the left lane. I tried to swerve to the side to avoid being hit, but a guard rail prevented that. Me & second car crunched. This all happened within seconds, of course, and at at least 60-65 mph (if you live in the Tampa Bay area, this happened on I-275, so you can imagine the traffic). Thankfully, I was able to maneuver enough to avoid the guard rail and further damage.

I am so thankful for full coverage insurance—my deductible is managable and I’ve got rental car reimbursement. Only problem is that I can’t get the rental car until Tuesday (damn holidays!). That part doesn’t really bother me, not really, because it forces me to stay home for three days and relax. I’d rather it was under different circumstances, of course, but I’ll take it. I’m starting to get really sore, too, and by tomorrow I’ll probably just sit in a hot bath all day.

The part that really pisses me off is that I wasn’t going to go to work today. I swear I went back and forth FOUR TIMES about whether or not to call in. Lesson? LISTEN TO YOUR INSTINCTS.

I’m going to go drown my sorrows in books and sleep.

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about your trouble — and even more sorry that the rotten culprit lives in a responsibility-free environment. Better luck in ’07, my dear.
